Week 19

Road Trip to Wyoming! - Last week Brett and I went to Wyoming with some friends (Derek, Breezy, and their 11 month-old baby girl, Logan). We drove all night and got to Jackson Hole at 4am. Slept for a while at the Rawhide Motel, had lunch at Bunnie's (awesome, yummy restaurant/bakery in Town Square), then drove a few more hours to our cabin in Cayon Village, Yellowstone National Monument. (Thanks Becky and Andrew for the cabin they had reserved a year before! Sorry you couldn't be with us.) Spent three nights and two full days in the Park, seeing the beautiful natural sites and animals. Guess what... we finally unmistakedly felt the baby moving!!! 'Moving' is not a good word for it - going crazy in a mosh-pit was more like it! It's cuz I ate a chocolate mint icecream cone and drank a Pepsi while sitting in the heat waiting for Old Faithful to blow. Sugar and caffine made that baby hyyyyper! And you should have seen Brett's face when I put is hand on my belly. He was speechless and his mouth dropped open in disbelief. This made our day! Better than seeing a black bear and her two baby cubs eating flowers not ten feet from us! Better even than seeing a grizzly bear wandering around by an enchanted fairy-tale pond! After Old Faithful Geyser erupted, we went to Yellowstone Lake and Brett jumped in in his boxers to swim. He lasted half a minute cuz it was like ice-water. But soooooo beautiful.

Next day, we drove back down into Grand Teton National Park. Managed to find one last empty camp-site. We made camp, ate dinner, hung out in garbage bag-ponchos while an evening storm rushed through, and hung out eating smores by the fires til late. Brett and Derek drank beer and whiskey of course. You know - camping. Awesome.

Got back to Denver Monday night and have been working my ass off since. Can't wait to rest on Sunday and Monday. And on Monday.... the big ULTRASOUND APOINTMENT!....

Week 18

Oh crap. Forgot to write about week 18. Now I've forgotten that week.

Week 17

Hungry and Lazy. Trying so hard to feel the "flutters" but so far nothing.
Somehow this baby is Mexican, because Mexican food is its favorite.

The 4th of July weekend was quite eventful. Went to a party at Nate & Shanna Cooks', another at the Madson kids' mom's house in Firestone. Went on a serious hike with Derek, Breezy and Logan at Seven Falls near CO Springs. Went to Waterworld too! Later in the week I played two softball games in a row! We lost both. :( Brett spent most of the week drunk and/or hungover. :)

We got our very first baby presents! A big bag of new clothes that are soft, yellow, and cute! Also included was one of those sun screens you put in a car window for shade. A huge THANK YOU goes out to AARON, ASHLEY, CODEY, BRITANNIA, MORGAN AND THEIR MOM!

Week 16

Went to a prenatal appointment last Monday. Brett and I met our OBGYN for the first time. (Actaully she gave me a pap smear two years ago, but amazingly enough, she did not remember me!) Her name is Dr. Andrea Jazbec-Lake. She listened to our baby's heartbeat and it was 155 or something like that. Good I guess. I really have nothing to compare it too. Brett took an iPhone video, but you can't actually hear the heartbeat on this. But you can see our doctor and me and my belly!

We went to see the movie "Away We Go", which I highly recommend watching even if you're not expecting a baby any time soon. But if you are pregnant, man, the jokes are so right-on! And the fears and confusion that go with having your first child which the characters in this film experience are exactly what Brett and I have been going through. I am so glad we went to see it. Plus, Brett got wasted on whiskey-cokes at the same time. (The Mayan is the best full-bar movie-theatre in Denver!) One question I have about the movie... WHEN DO I GET A TAKE-HOME DOPPLER?!
