I have been so busy at work! When I get home I am too exhausted to do anything. Poor Brett has to do all the house chores AND feed me AND take care of Chango.
At this point I am showing a small baby belly. I still feel sick off and on, especially when I haven't eaten much. But I am scared to eat all the time. I don't want to get fat! I just need the protein and the fiber and vitamins from the food. But all the yummy food only has empty calories and sugar! :(

Week 14
I went to Los Angeles to visit my brother, his wife and their baby, Tsutomo. Tsuto is 3.5 months old and it was so amazing to spend time with him. He is fasinating to watch. And I think he likes me. I did not practice changing diapers or anything. But I did see him pee all over the place when Eddy was changing him. LOL!

Week 13
Ok people! Listen up!
WE DO NOT KNOW THE GENDER OF THE BABY!!!
Just becuase many posts ago I mentioned AN IDEA for a girl's name does not mean to suggest that we are having a girl! Hello! It is waaaay too early to know that!
Also, I now wish I had never told anyone that idea for a name - because apparently everyone in the world has a thing or two to say about it. I'm really sorry people, but the decision is not yours to make. Brett and I will name our baby whatever we want to name it. You can keep on finding negative connotations if you like (popular culture and history is full of them); but please do not share them with us. POSITIVITY ONLY! :D
I am going to L.A. this weekend to meet my nephew, Tsutomo Luis. He is 3.5 months old! I am so excited to hold him and play with him and tell him funny secrets about his dad.
One more thing.... I am starting to show! My pants feel very tight sometimes. (This reminds me of a song that Sarah Burns used to sing while drunk, riding the 22 Fillore Muni back home from the Mission in SF. Please sing the lyrics to the tune of Strangers in the Night. "Strangers in the night.... exotic dancing...my pants were very tight.... I felt like prancing...." Was Sarah conjuring up the feeling of being in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy? hmmmm.)

Week 12
Brett and went in for Genetic Counseling and a "First Screen". This is a test for Down Syndrome, Trysomy 21, and 18 in the fetus. Ultrasound measuremnets are taken of the amount of fluid between the baby's spine and it's neck skin. These measurements, compared with my age, and my blood tests are used to determine the percent chance of such fetal disorders. My results came back as follows: 1 in 10,000 chance! That is very good and so we have decided not to do any further testing.
Here are some images from the 12 week ultrasound...

Week 11
I don't remember week 11.
And btw, it was because of my own dear brother's comment on my Week 7 blog entry that I stopped writiing anything. He told me the whole blog was boring. You'd think he'd know that insulting pregnant women is not a good idea. You'd think he would know that they can be very sensitive and take things very personally even when you are joking around. I have a mind to tell his wife, so she slaps him on the wrist. Shame on you, Eddy! But I have forgiven you and will continue to blog, no matter how boring you may think it is.
If it wasn't for my friend, Kirstin, I would not have starting writing entries again. She alone seemed to care what was going on with my baby blog. Thank you, K! I hope that your interest in my boring blog inspires others to check it out once in a while. Even if merely out of a sense of guilt.

Week 10
During my week 10 (calendar week, 8 fetal week), Brett and I went to Mexico. Despite all the terror and media-attention that the "swine flu" was getting in May, we went anyway. Everyone was paranoid, including my midwife and my mother. I took a Tamaflu (sp?) everyday as my MD sister advised, but I didn't wear the ugly face mask on the airplane as I promised my midwife.
The trip was fun, although I vow never to stay in an all-inclusive hotel ever again. We got super tan and went to many beaches. We snorkled and played cards (Casino and Gin like good "Vegas".) We ate some food that was ok I guess. I only puked twice in a bucket next to the bed in the middle of the night.
In week 10, I still look hot in a bathingsuit.
